ACMI ~ Hollywood Costume
If you have any interest in Fashion, Art or Costume you must see the Hollywood Costume exhibition at ACMI. Melbourne has been treated with the costumes of some of the most famous films in history. Not only does it interest costume designers and film lovers but production designers, visual designers, cinematographers, directors etc! As the concept of a costume can make a film. Think Avatar, Titanic, Batman, and so much more they are all there. It was also awesome to see how costumes were brought to life in the design process and how the actors took to the characters through the costumes.

Weekend Lovin.. Queens Birthday!
Some weekends are better than others lets just admit it! This one I can write home about. Highlights? seeing the Great Gasby, discovering new pets, (random bird that is now always at my window) receiving new fabrics, Having my sister stay the night (this is a rare occurrence!) going to the Melbourne Food and wine festival, Koren BBQ, Hollywood costume exhibition and seeing in the flesh Diors stunning work at NGV and working on the babywear collection for a up and coming photo shoot...
So I will start with the Great Gasby. Yes it is not everyones taste. You are taken back in time to the 1920s and everything is so over the top, but if you think about how things have changed you appreciate the life you have for it. It was a piece of art in my eyes, the costumes by Catherine Martin are just brillant as she works so well in collabration with her husband Baz Luhrman. They just make it. Just think of Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge and now there is the Great Gastby to add.

Melbourne Food and wine Festival- $32 alittle steep for a couple of pieces of bread and cheese but I can say I went and enjoyed it for other factors. I ended u with a Catus Jack lemon tequila bottle in hand ?! so it must have been good hey?!

Today-
Happy Birthday to the Queen!
NGV Collection Focus Dior and Yamamoto: The New Look-

To be continued..
Hope you all had a awesome weekend and don't worry it will be the weekend again before you know it.

If only we had this exhibition his time last year when I was studying the two fashion icons. The works of the Dior and Yamamoto are amazing to say the least. I never thought I would actually be able to see Dior's original work in the flesh. His use of line and detail in each garment I saw was almost breathe taking. So precise and clean and nothing like you will ever fine in Target or Myers. Yamamoto brought avant-garde style and Dior brought beauty back to women with voluminous silhouettes and feminine style. I have a strong appreciation for the two designers work.

Love vintage fashion show- Melbourne
The Love Vintage Show ~ Melbourne
It was May 17th, The Great Gatsby had not yet premiered at the movies when the Love Vintage show came to town. It was just in time though. Melbourne has been captivated by it's nineteen twenties charm of the spectacular Baz Lerman take on The Great Gastby. The show took place in the best spot possible- the Royal exhibition center, which is breathe taking at night. It brought fashion, jewellery, collectables, textiles(lace to my liking!!) antiques, homewares etc.
I have not always been that excited about vintage fashion but my opinion on it has become respectful of the designers in the past years. I know this will sound old fashioned to say 'Fashion isn't like it used to be'. It isn't. Not only have been many of the fashion houses closed but the designs aren't as unique and have the detail in which it use to.
As Kirstie and I walked in I was amazed at the atmosphere and how well they have created the event. Even the ticket box was twenties style! it turely felt as if we had stepped back in time for the brief hour and half we were there. One of the first stalls to take our eye was the vintage wedding dresses. These dresses were exquisite with the most amazing details. From the rowed buttoned cuffs on silk sleeves to pleated skirts, lace and enormous trains.
As we walked on we soon found we were on the floor going through a stall holders large containers of lace. This lady had lace dating back 1920s - unfortunately I can't recall what she called herself. We walked away with about 10 meters of lace and some unique marbled/graphic printed fabric.
Before we knew it our time was up and the speakers were calling everyone to kindly leave in a safely matter. It was a shame that time was not on our side. Although I believe we spent the good time at the worthy stands.
If you get a chance to ever go it is once a year and travels to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival- Fashion Photography at its best.
It only take another persons view to make you look at things a little differently.
Here's some photography from Kirstie-Lee, a sneak peak to what she captured on the night.
Above,
a front view of Jayson Brunsdon design imagery focused on the colours
and the sheer tones of this little dress. Teamed up with those tan legs
this will be stunning
in the Autumn sun.
This is why I love fashion. On someone right, it can just make an outfit. Kirstie-lee seemed to just capture this so well, like it was nothing at all. I see that as a talent that not everyone has at their finger tips. The moments that were so split second, that even my eye didn't notice. I say this because these models marched fast down that runway you are trying to capture this moving object, disappearing.
I particularly love the red cape- the expression on the models face just made it- beautiful. . .

a piece from Hardwick's collection, the details here are caught
effortlessly as the light and position created beautiful structured
lines on the soft fabric.

L'Oreal Fashion Festival 2013 Autumn/Winter collections
Last month I finally splurged out and bought myself a ticket to the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. I had been meaning to go every year ever since I started fashion school, though unfortunately had always missed it or was working. So this year I was going no matter what!
The night was enjoyable. as made it that my friend/ Professional photographer, Kirstie-Lee was already going to shoot for her work.(RedFlair Photography, Balwyn)
Runway 4- Presented by Madison magazine introduced us to A/W '13.
Featured -
Alannah Hill
Aurelio Costarella
Flannel
Hardwick
Jayson Brunsdon
Kirrily Johnston
Megan Park
I was most looking forward to Alannah Hill and Kirrily Johnston.
Surprisingly the stand out for me on the runway was Hardwick's collection. Which is a new Australian favorite of mine, check out their website http://marianahardwick.com.au/
Jayson Brunsdon brings soft sheer textures and brights for A/W 2013.
While Hardwick kept things simple using a neutral pallet of black, grey with a touch of silver metallic sheen here and there. Most pieces wearable and flattering on the models- soft fabrics that created draped feminine designs, mixed with leather peplum waists.
It was biker chic meets lace lingerie.
Most interesting pieces included a Black leather peplum belt with laser cut detail and the StingRay wool cape with waist tie.
(The Iconic)

Aurelio Costarella came to the show with pencil skirts, tailored jackets and swish dresses in rich fabrics with implacable details. Below, the champagne soft flowing dress with embellished shoulders swept the floor, stunning.
I was lucky to stumble upon a studio visits from L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival blog- check it out http://blog.lmff.com.au/tag/aurelio-costarella/
So the experience? for the money, I would not pay more. I understand there is so much work that goes into a show and appreciate it. But as cruel as it is, we always no expect more... I look forward to being more inspired and influenced by the talented Australian designers we have here!
Thanks for reading! Have a lovely day/night!
Cheers,

**Happy 2013!**
Yes I know I completely missed December. Life got alittle away from me. But I'm still here!
Christmas and new year just flew by this year and I found myself not really being able to stop and enjoy it. Although it was nice to be able to spend my first Xmas for awhile with my brother and his fiance's family and my family. Robyn made a gorgeous xmas pudding that had my favorite animals in the world on- penguins!!
I got inspired to make some Christmas cards over the holidays (but somehow misplaced them in the time I needed! so I'm sorry to those loved ones I didn't get to give too!! hopefully they turn up and you can get them late, better than never! ;) ) The cards i kept pretty simple- patterned paper from Spotlight (scrap booking section) and some glittered sticker borders.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year!!
xx Ky xx
