L'Oreal Fashion Festival 2013 Autumn/Winter collections
Last month I finally splurged out and bought myself a ticket to the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. I had been meaning to go every year ever since I started fashion school, though unfortunately had always missed it or was working. So this year I was going no matter what!
The night was enjoyable. as made it that my friend/ Professional photographer, Kirstie-Lee was already going to shoot for her work.(RedFlair Photography, Balwyn)
Runway 4- Presented by Madison magazine introduced us to A/W '13.

Alannah Hill
Aurelio Costarella
Flannel
Hardwick
Jayson Brunsdon
Kirrily Johnston
Megan Park
I was most looking forward to Alannah Hill and Kirrily Johnston.
Surprisingly the stand out for me on the runway was Hardwick's collection. Which is a new Australian favorite of mine, check out their website http://marianahardwick.com.au/
Jayson Brunsdon brings soft sheer textures and brights for A/W 2013.
While Hardwick kept things simple using a neutral pallet of black, grey with a touch of silver metallic sheen here and there. Most pieces wearable and flattering on the models- soft fabrics that created draped feminine designs, mixed with leather peplum waists.
It was biker chic meets lace lingerie.
Most interesting pieces included a Black leather peplum belt with laser cut detail and the StingRay wool cape with waist tie.

Aurelio Costarella came to the show with pencil skirts, tailored jackets and swish dresses in rich fabrics with implacable details. Below, the champagne soft flowing dress with embellished shoulders swept the floor, stunning.
I was lucky to stumble upon a studio visits from L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival blog- check it out http://blog.lmff.com.au/tag/aurelio-costarella/
So the experience? for the money, I would not pay more. I understand there is so much work that goes into a show and appreciate it. But as cruel as it is, we always no expect more... I look forward to being more inspired and influenced by the talented Australian designers we have here!
Thanks for reading! Have a lovely day/night!
Cheers,

**Happy 2013!**
Yes I know I completely missed December. Life got alittle away from me. But I'm still here!
Christmas and new year just flew by this year and I found myself not really being able to stop and enjoy it. Although it was nice to be able to spend my first Xmas for awhile with my brother and his fiance's family and my family. Robyn made a gorgeous xmas pudding that had my favorite animals in the world on- penguins!!
I got inspired to make some Christmas cards over the holidays (but somehow misplaced them in the time I needed! so I'm sorry to those loved ones I didn't get to give too!! hopefully they turn up and you can get them late, better than never! ;) ) The cards i kept pretty simple- patterned paper from Spotlight (scrap booking section) and some glittered sticker borders.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year!!

Markets, presents and sparkling dresses!
Officially started Christmas shopping! A friend and I have been trying to find unique places to do this years Christmas shopping. As much as we love our late night Christmas eve shop at Chadstone, we hope this year we are abit more prepared. We have stumbled across a new market in North Melbourne- which is called exactly that! specialised in 70 different stalls for special gifts for your loved ones. Make your way there for the next installments on the 9/12/12.
We were lucky enough to experience a full day of sunshine in the city of Melbourne! We headed for Bourke street where the Myer windows have began! and seeing the lines of people we thought we'd come back for them. The Royal arcade seemed like a nice spot to explore, the historical roof and charming floor soon has you thinking your in a dream. There is so many little shops in there you just can't find anywhere else, whether it be the magical shop of spells or the Russian Babushka shop.
Next we made our way to the GPO, like the Royal arcade a place I feel happy to let my eyes wonder on the expensive clothing, macaroons and shoes! I of course had to visit my new favourite store. Anaessia is the first store I have walked in and felt like someone has just created all my dream dresses. It will bring out the girl in you with all that sparkles and lace handmade flowers and the detail will amaze you. Every dress has been handmade and is nothing like anything you'll find, even in the high couture stores.
If you aren't lucky enough to be in Melbourne to see Anaessia's shop- they have one in Sydney too! check out the website- http://www.anaessia.com/ and they have a blog! http://anaessia.blogspot.com.au/ make sure you go, even if it's just to say you've touched a dress worth $4,000+ !

Wednesday nights at The Suzuki Night Market..
The Suzuki Night Market has began, have you been? Your mouth will start watering as you make your way to the Queen Victoria Market venue. Filled with arrange of different foods of food from around the world African curry, Asian dumplings, Dutch pancakes to Spanish Paella!
Lucky for my friends and I it was the first night which meant not many had caught on yet that it had began- making it a more enjoyable experience without the shuffling crowds. The market also has a new addition with the 'String Bean Ally' which is where you will find market stalls in shipping containers.
We were happy to find also our new favourite stall 'Mecino' there again. Ok Ok we may have bought more earrings! but how can you resit the beauty of her designs!
Here are my new addition to the earring collection-

Summer is just round the corner, which means markets and beach time! I really am not one for the love of hot days, but if that means I can escape to the beach and watch the sparkling water count me in!
So good to be on holidays and experience some new markets- today consisting of The Fine Design Market at Doncaster. The next one is
-
2nd Dec @ Fed Square
www.melbournedesignmarket.com.au
I was pleasantly surprised to find new designers there I haven't seen at previous markets. The talent is outstanding and very inspiring! Some of the beautiful vintage jewellery designers such as 'Mecino' stock the most stunning pieces you will find- for those with fine vintage taste!
This piece I bought my Nan for her birthday this Nov. I also treated myself with these gorgeous swallow earrings. There are so many unique pieces, you'll fall in love with her designs and want all of them!
Check out Michelle's collection here online
http://www.mecino.com.au/ or on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/mecino.
Most of the designers will also be at The Suzuki Market @ Vic Market which starts this Wednesday!
Be sure to go!
